Schleeh Desktop Magnetique Card Holder

Everything's Up To Date In Kansas City
We all have them: friends who have to have the latest in everything. Last year’s anything is passé; it’s what coming tomorrow that’s important. Whether it’s in fashion, music or the technology, they are always ahead of the curve. They bought Hummers as soon as “Desert Storm” went civilian. They wore Crocs when the rest of us were still in penny loafers. They thought Beyonce′ was hot when she was with Destiny’s Child and they listened to 50 Cent when he was still small change.

Always on the cutting edge, they have i-Phones that can do everything but cook dinner; GPS units that can download daily highway maintenance orders; and plasma TV’s that are thinner than Calista Flockhart on a diet. They are modern with a capital “M”.

So, why is it that their home and office desktops still looks pretty much like their grandfather’s? What’s up with that? Oh sure, they have all the latest hardware that the wizards of Silicon Valley can offer; they get their stock quotes online instead of on tickertape, they conference call with webcams and broadband, and if they point to a sales chart it’s with a lazar beam and not a pointed wooden stick. But their marvels of modern technology are still surrounded by a desktop décor that is as stale as yesterday’s coffee.

Dull may have been “in” back in 1952, when work was work and ladies all wore aprons. Back when form and function were two very separate concepts. But a lot has changed since the Eisenhower Administration! So, isn’t it time you helped your friends add a little pizzazz to their workspace? Isn’t it time you helped them give their offices a nudge toward the Twenty-first Century?

At www.benegifts.com we think it’s high time that everyone introduced a little flair into their workspace, whether that space is the corner office, an office cubicle or a desktop at home. And we think we’ve found the perfect way to do it: with the modern office accessories of the brilliant Canadian designer, Colin Schleeh; a guy who’s held design commissions from Hermes of Paris, Bulgari and Shreve Crump and Low.

Son of the respected sculptor Hans Schleeh, Colin Schleeh was born in Montreal in 1955. Although his father’s preferred medium was marble, or perhaps because of it, Colin became intrigued by the innate qualities of wood and at the tender age of 17 he served an apprenticeship in wood design at the Berufs und Fachschule, Holz und Kunstgewerbe in Stuttgart Germany. Then, returning to Canada, he served an additional apprenticeship as a furniture designer and builder at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton and in 1980 opened his own studio designing and building custom furniture.

In 1986 Schleeh moved back to Montreal where he worked in a multitude of design positions before becoming the head of the Fine Arts Studio at Dawson College. Throughout this period, however, he also maintained his own studio, displaying his work in stores and galleries across Canada. The demand for his work continued to grow and in the fall of 2001 Colin Schleeh left teaching to open Schleeh Designs with Rachel Schwartz.

But that’s just background. You need to see his classic contemporary designs to really appreciate the artist. And here at www.benegifts.com we are delighted to be able to let you do that. We are proud to offer you some fine selections from the Schleeh Design’s line of innovative limited production accessories. As elegant as they are functional, these marvelous office gifts are guaranteed to bring any work space happily into the New Millennium. So what are you waiting for? You’ve got friends who need your help.
